As you know Thomas, the Guardian have published a Richard Seymour article which includes an attack on Toby and yourself. They have a 'Guardian Pick' comment in which the person posting shows that they don't understand something as simple as 'average age of death'. A whole load of responses then echo the same misunderstanding. I've seen the same argument made numerous times over the last few years, usually by people who would probably like to consider themselves 'progressive' and well informed. Every time they misrepresent this average lifespan point they come across as either deliberately deceitful or just plain thick. The fact that the Guardian has made this their 'pick' of the comments is beyond stupid.
